Project 1: Transforming the Mundane

This project was pretty interesting and I was definitely sceptical about how it would all work out in the beginning, especially because we were tasked to work with people from another course which we had never done before. I feel really lucky because I had some awesome team members, which meant we all collaborated well together and discussed multiple ideas before coming to our final outcome; which was the folding pencil comic strip. Everyone contributed to the final result and I'm happy with what we achieved in such a short space of time. This project has enhanced my communication skills and has taught me to think positively in a new situation because it may not be as scary as I originally thought.

Project 2: Collaborative Game Production

So where do I even begin to explain this mammoth project? Well one thing's for sure is that I've loved every second of it! So much so that I ended up updating my blog twice or more every day! This project has really pushed me in terms of creating concepts for asset production and texturing, which I feel like I've improved greatly throughout this unit. Overall our team dynamics worked really well and we managed to have group meetings at least twice a week throughout the project. It was really rewarding to gain feedback from other members of the team and then implementing those changes to improve my work, which was really fun. I'm super proud of all the work we have created. My favourite assets that I have textured were the well, crossbow and vambracers. The well looks the most professionally polished out of the 3D assets I textured as well as the crossbow. Regarding the vambracers, it shows how much I've progressed in regards to hand painted texturing as it was the last thing I completed. Things that didn't go so well were my stall concepts and the house texturing. I really need to practice perspective over the summer because my stalls looked pretty uneven, and the house itself had many design flaws that I should have done more research on when concepting.

However, overall I couldn't be happier with the amount of work that myself and my whole team have produced over the course of these 6 weeks.

Quick Overview of the work I've done this unit (Not including UI):

Full Gameplay

What we could've done (as a group) if we had more time:

- Further playtesting - More polished animations - Water reflections in the cave - More mechanics, for example the shield breaking halfway through the level and then the player would have to use a crossbow to aim and fire 'with space' instead. - Changing the tree style as suggested by the tutors - More optimisation - More interesting events - Make completely new goblins - Extending the village - Creating the vambracers in 3D

Where Do I Go from Here?

Improvements to consider for the summer holidays:

- Drawing Metal and Cloth - Hand Painted Terrain - Colour Theory and mixing colours in the same object - Polishing / Rendering
