Now that I've researched into windmills and watermills, I can start iterating ideas for my final design. Below this image I have drawn various windmill blade iterations (the ones at the top were just for me to see what it would look like with them on).
Favourite Aesthetics:
- Shapes/Overall structure of 3:
- Tiled roofs on 7:
- Height of 4:
- Brickwork on 6:
- Window on 5:
Combining them into number 9: The ninth iteration is a combonation of my favourite aesthetics that I have taken from parts of the various sketches I have made.

I then started looking at different windmill blades in games art and design for some further inspiration.

My favourite windmill blade iterations are definitely number 3 and 8. I'm very fond of adding cloth because I feel I could make it look quite visually interesting with holes and weathering. Because I'll be focusing on creating cartoon-like hand painted textures, number 1, 2 and 5 would be out of the question because their forms are less exaggerated and quite thin. The iteration which sticks out to me however, would still have to be number 8. I really like how the cloth is attached to the planks, which feels less constrainted than 3. This also gives me the chance to experiment with alpha maps while creating it.
