Hand painted textures are used to give a cartoon-like/stylised look within assets, environments, buildings and characters. They interest me greatly because of how I am mostly drawn to creating 2D concept art, and I feel that researching them and creating studies will help to improve my digital drawing/colouring skills.
Observations: + Shadows and highlights are exaggerated around the edges of what's within the texture Ex. Rocks/planks/jewels e.t.c. + Colours are often more saturated + Additional colours and tones have been added for a stronger visual effect
Ex. A grey pebble, however with blue and red tones, both quite prominent (unlike how they're viewed in person)
+ Some lines aren't blended in, and look quite bold and thick
These are all hand-painted textures I have found on Pintrest, and collectively placed together using Photoshop. (All images and source links can be found within my Pintrest board --> https://www.pinterest.com/Charlightart/3d-hand-painted-textures-stylised/)

Borderlands
Not only do I absolutely adore the Borderlands series for its story, characters, humour and gameplay, but I have always been in love with the aesthetics and visuals.
