Finally it's time to start a new project, venturing into the world of 3D environments and Maya! I was quite surprised with how differently this project is being set, however not completely disheartened. Although I would personally feel more comfortable recieving the full creative brief now, I understand why it's been split up into two parts. I'm glad that these next four weeks will be focused on Maya and research! I suspect that the brief could possibly be to design an asset which is set in a particular era, but who knows? I'm excited to find out! Here are the following dates we have been given in which to complete things: Week 4: (24 on the timetable) Need to have completed 4 Maya Studies 1/05/2015
Week 7: (27 on the timetable)
Main Submission 22/05/2015 In the following weeks (including my easter break), I will have to build up a body of studio work which includes: - Primary Photo Research - Doodles/Sketches/Drawings - Drawn/Painted Studies - Labelled Diagrams - 3D Models
- Texture Studies - Lighting Studies Learning Outcomes:
LO9: Interpret your Studio practice through a range of contemporary and historical movements and events in art, design and media.
- We will be looking for clear identification of workflow and pipeline methods relating to specialist art design and media processes used in game development within your reflective journal and project evaluation. LO10: Evidence engagement with a range of ideas and media to present arguments and make judgments. - We will be looking for clear identification of workflow and pipeline methods within your reflective journal and digital asset.
LO11: Communicate the development of your ideas clearly using text, image or object.
- We will be looking for application of technical diagrams to describe complex processes in your reflective journal.
LO12: Evidence transferable skills required for study and employability, including team working and presentation skills. - We will be looking for application of techniques and processes used to realize your digital asset, technical diagrams to describe complex processess in your studio work along with the correct use of digital formats. I'm going to be aiming for a provisional mark of 75%+, considering I achieved 77% in BA1 and 70% in BA2. At first I was quite upset with my BA2 grade, however I came to realise that I shouldn't be too hard on myself considering I had never used 3D programs before. I have also learned how to manage my time more effectively when it comes to balancing my research and 3D. While working on BA2 I focused way too much on the 3D, and should've balanced my time to write more in my journal.
