After a long christmas break of waiting eagerly for the next project to be announced, I’m happy to finally be able to make a start! Our task is to create a gargoyle asset in ZBrush that could potentially be used in a ‘current gen’ platform game (which includes PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). We have been given free reign over the style and way in which we can approach this, as well as the option to sticking with it being gothic like the traditional gargoyles. The model itself will need to be a non-articulated statue, meaning it won’t be animated within a game. Efficient topology will also need to be considered while creating the final asset, with the polygon capacity stretching to 50,000 maximum. Lastly, the final model will also need to be textured.
Deadline: Friday 20th February
Final Outcomes:
A) A fully realised digital sculpture and turntable render [.ZPR & .MOV] B) A document evidencing iteration [PDF] C) Examples of Anatomical Life Drawing [PDF] D) Reflective Journal and 500 word evaluation (Digitized Notebook/Sketchbook/Blog) [PDF, Incl. URL]
Learning Outcomes: The grade boundary I am aiming for is ‘Exemplary’, which has a score boundary of 80-100%. Because I received 77% on my last project, I’m determined to achieve an even higher percentage this time. The learning outcomes I have wrote down are from the ‘Exemplary’ category, which will help me understand the amount of work, as well as the quality and content I’m looking at producing.
